Literary classics among the rubbish pile
Pile of books waiting to be recycled continues to grow.

The pile of library books dumped at a local recycling centre continues to grow, among them many literary classics.
Works of Geoffrey Chaucer, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Shakespeare and Charles Dickens are among the 60 tons of books waiting to be recycled.
The owner of the recycling centre explained that he frequently gets calls from the provincial library to pick up more books that they have deemed as ‘surplus’ or ‘not needed’.
The provincial library has come under fire from many people who believe the books could have been donated to other libraries or needy schools in the area. Recently the Hattingspruit Library were in urgent need of books after the municipality removed majority of the books due to a technical issue.
