Treverton Pre-Primary partakes in psychomotor play, which is non-threatening, non-judgemental and encourages creativity and self confidence in the child.
Children are encouraged to express their own ideas, learn from their mistakes, take sensible risks, make a choice of how to solve problems their way, and develop communication skills.
Psychomotor Education nurtures and encourages self expression through these activities.
The Psychomotor Educator is at all times respectful towards each individual child, encouraging the child to be creative and confident by being non-directive.
It emphasises the tremendous importance of movement as an information gathering
way for children to learn.
Boundaries are established from the beginning of the first lesson of the year.
The rules are: “We don’t hurt each other; we don’t hurt each other’s feelings; we don’t hurt ourselves, and we don’t destroy or interfere with what another child is building or playing.”
Grade 00 teacher Linda Reynolds states: “Within these boundaries, Psychomotor serves as a vehicle to explore, promote and reinforce a variety of perceptual-motor and academic concepts.”
Treverton Pre-Primary School was established 10 years ago, and provides a loving and creative atmosphere for children from Grade 000-Grade R, in pleasant surroundings, excellent play facilities and a number of physical activities for children
of that age.
The school is situated on the Prep campus.
