AFTER a brilliant season so far, having ended top of the log in the Northern Natal First Division, scoring an average of 42 points per game and winning 11 games out of 12, Vryheid will be the favourites going into the semi-final on Saturday against Pongola.
Although both the first and the second team are going into their matches plagued by injuries, spirits are high and a great result is expected from the men in maroon.
Vryheid also ended top of the log of the First Division throughout KZN, no small feat, as this includes teams like Harlequins Durban, Richards Bay and South Coast Warriors.
The semi-final matches will be Vryheid vs Pongola and Piet Retief vs Highlanders.
After the main match, there will be loads of entertainment for young and old, with a jumping castle for the kids and live music for the adults.
Willie Birkenstock will be opening the stage for local band, Black Whiskey.
Eddie’s Butchery will be teasing bystanders with some of their best cuts of meat, pap and boerewors and ‘skaapdermpies’ as well.
As always, the usual tasty treats will be available at the tuck shop: hot dogs, hamburgers and their famous curry and rice.
The entrance fee is R10-00 and the game begins at 4:00pm, with free entrance and special parking on the field for Harley Davidsons.
If all goes according to plan, there will also be a surprise in store for Vryheid Rugby Club’s fans and loyal supporters.
This will be a game of epic proportions and certainly not one to be missed, so forget the cold weather and come and show your support.
