IN RESPONSE to the article, ‘No funds for repairs in eDumbe’ (Vryheid Herald, July 4), the eDumbe Municipality has denied the accuracy of the information therein.
It was alleged in the article that, according to AfriForum, an outstanding amount of R5250-00 was due to them by the eDumbe Municipality.
However, according to the acting Municipal Manager, they have no knowledge of this amount and there is no order number or record of this.
According to the acting Municipal Manager, he had in fact spoken to Heinz Hambrock, who was quoted in the article as saying that the Municipality informed AfriForum that there was no money to buy parts, after the article was published, but that Mr Hambrock was away at the time and chose to “distance himself from the matter.”
Chris Fourie, the Provincial Co-ordinator of AfriForum in KZN, was quoted as saying that, “an AfriForum member has made funds available to the contractor to purchase the necessary parts,” but eDumbe Municipality’s acting Municipal Manager denies any involvement in the matter, claiming that neither he, nor anyone else at the eDumbe municipality has any knowledge of this and that the matter in question was between the AfriForum member and the contractor in question.
