Volunteers spent the night dampening down a fierce veld fire that at one stage threatened to engulf homes close to the open field adjacent to Buffalo Drive.

A high wind fanned the flames.  Residents were out fighting the fire and ensuring that the flames did not spread.  The Fire Brigade was also there.

A caravan, parked in the veld used for storing goods was destroyed.  Several horses owned by Dave Yates were also rescued.
