A recent spate of burglaries and robberies has sparked outcry in Glencoe. Three houses in Dahlia Road have been targeted by thieves in recent weeks.
The first burglary occurred on July 11, during the early hours of the morning. A geyser and garden tools were taken from the yard. Entrance is believed to have been gained from climbing over the wall surrounding the premises. Police later recovered the geyser, but it had already been dismantled and only the shell remained. According to Mr Sohan, the owner of the property, “The copper from within the geyser had been removed by thieves.”
The second incident was a robbery that occurred on the very same day, during midday. Here tools were stolen. It is believed the tools were stolen by a man who used the pretence of being a gardener to enter the premises. The owner recovered the tools shortly thereafter.
The third incident occurred on July 13. This burglary is believed to be orchestrated by street children, who are once again prowling the streets of Glencoe, much to the annoyance of the community. Here sweets and chocolates were stolen. These incidents have left the community of Glencoe infuriated at the recent surge in crime.
