Dundee nurse, two pharmacy assistants killed in car crash

The health workers were on their way to a workshop in Durban when the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident with two trucks

A Dundee  nurse and two pharmacy assistants from Dundee Hospital died this morning in a road accident near Colenso.

The nurse and four pharmacy assistants were travelling in a state vehicle from Dundee to a workshop in Durban when the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident with two trucks.

The nursing sister and one pharmacy assistant passed on at the scene. Another pharmacy assistant passed on upon arrival in hospital. The other two pharmacy assistants are in hospital, where their condition has been described as critical.

The KZN MEC for Health Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and the KZN Health HOD Dr Sibongile Zungu have expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery. The names of the deceased will be announced once their next of kin have been informed.
