Protesters arrested in Roosboom
The situation became chaotic as police fired rubber bullets to dispearse the crowd

Newcastle Public Order Policing (POP) made arrests this morning during the protest in Roosboom which has seen residents barricading roads with rocks and burning tyres as they demand better service delivery.
Protesters have closed the R103 at Roosboom, effectively cutting off Estcourt and Colenso from Ladysmith.
The situation became chaotic as police fired rubber bullets to dispearse the crowd, with people scattering in all directions. Tear gas was also used.
Police officers then arrested some of the protesters, bundling them into their vans.
Roosboom residents now say they want those arrested to be released, otherwise the protest will continue.
Mayor Vincent Madlala had to be called out to speak to the people and attempt to pacify them.
