Fire ravages Craigieburn area

Community members rushed to put out a runaway fire in the Craigieburn area.

A wild fire broke out in the Craigieburn area this afternoon destroying a huge portion of the land.
Residents, who were burning rubbish in the area, could not control the flames as heavy winds made matters worse. There were many futile attempts to try and put out the fire,which quickly spread destroying a residents property, turning most of the veld into black ashes.
Thankfully, community members came to the rescue. Guy Slater, as well as Courier staff and other members of the community assisted in extinguishing the blaze and ensuring that it did not continue its path of fiery destruction.
The local fire truck arrived half an hour after the blaze had started, once it was already extinguished.
The fire follows lasts weeks blaze at Guy Slater Transport premises.
