Hockey hopefuls aim to collect R29 000 each to secure their spot on the Newcastle Holland Hockey Tour 2015.
During the June/July school holidays next year, 40 hockey fanatics will experience the best Holland has to offer in a 12 day sporting and cultural adventure of a lifetime.
Players will spend two days in Rotterdam, travel to The Hague, take a bus tour of Antwerp, Belgium, tour on bicycles through Cologne, Germany and last but certainly not least, see the ultimate sights of Paris, France.
The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre are only a few of the iconic and historic places players will visit.
“Holland is the home of hockey with more than 300 astro turfs countrywide. The aim of the tour is to expose local players to hockey at an international level. The games and clinics will be hosted by various clubs, while allowing the children to experience the cultural richness of four countries at the same time,” said tour leader, Marinda Boshoff.
42 players have expressed their commitment to attend the tour next year. Pupils had to pay a deposit of R4 000 by the end of July to secure a preliminary spot on the tour. Pupil’s seats on the lengthy flight to Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam will be finalised after the payment of ten equal installments.
“South African senior men’s hockey team assistant coach, Moabi Malebye will be managing the tour pre-, during and post-departure. Mr Moabi is an experienced traveller and expert on all Holland has to offer. With him on our team, the tour promises to be even more memorable,” she said.
Although R29 000 may seem astronomical to some, the amount includes airfare, accommodation and meals, making it well worth the player’s while. To make a donation towards the opportunity of a lifetime, use the following banking details:
