Rapist behind bars for life

Fani Micheal Buthelezi (51) has been sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and robbery.
The Dundee Regional Court sentenced Buthelezi for the April 2009 rape of a 28-year-old female.
The victim was walking home along the Helpmekaar Road when Buthelezi grabbed her and dragged her into the bushes where he raped and robbed her. He then fled the scene.
The victim rushed home where and described her attacker to neighbours who identified him as the same man who was walking in the area, hours before the attack.
The Dundee Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, who investigated the case, together with the Glencoe K9 Unit members proceeded to Buthelezi’s home in Wasbank where they arrested and charged with rape and robbery.
He will now spend life behind bars thanks to the great work of the FCS Unit.
