“On Tuesday, August 5, the Uelzen Grade 5s set off in the school bus for Durban. Our first stop was at the Environmental Centre to drop off our luggage. We got back onto the bus and went to Mitchell’s Park for lunch. The Sugar Terminal was our next stop, where we learnt all about sugar.
“After supper in the evening we went to the games arcade, which was a lot of fun.
“The next morning we got into our PE clothes and went to Ushaka Marine World. There we learnt about different fish and went to the dolpin show. We then went to Crocodile Creek and saw very scary crocodiles and we even got to hold one! That evening people came with animals from a Rescue Centre.
“On the third day we went to the Sharks Board and saw a shark get dissected! After that we went to the Umgeni Bird Park. That night we went to the movies and watched Step Up 5!
“The last morning we spent some time on the beach and then headed off to Pietermaritzburg’s Butterflies for Africa. Thereafter we headed home (sadly).”
