The Executive Head of Treverton Schools Noel Coetzee has resigned from his post to take up an appointment with a major private sector group to head up a soon to be listed JSE company in the Education sector.
Coetzee has been at the school for the past seven years.
Before entering the education sector, he was in business and industry and was previously General Manager of Tai Yuen Textiles in Mooi River.
During the past seven years, he has seen the introduction and growth of the annual sports festival at the College and the Stihl Bundu Bash series, an adventure experience, which takes place in August every year.
Since 2013, Treverton has been involved in the FNB Classic Clash Rugby Series against Weston. While Executive Head he has also witnessed the 1st XV team win the Dowker trophy against Weston three times.
Cricketers this year, won the Sunfoil series and the school swimming team and athletics teams have won their respective co-ed competitions year after year.
He has also seen College students achieve outstanding results in the IEB (Independent Examining Board) senior certificate results, with three students finishing in the top 65 in the national results in 2012.
During this seven year period, he has served on the Board of Governors and had the unique experience of working with three of the founder governors, who unfortunately are now deceased. On the board, he has interacted with two Chairpersons Vic Winterbach and Debbie Davidson as well as the previous Chief Executive and College Headmaster Alan Staples who is a governor. He has worked with two Prep headmasters and two College Headmasters.
He has played an active role in marketing the schools in the current competitive market and has attended exhibitions and travelled beyond South Africa’s borders.
This year, he was involved in the school’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
Coetzee is not the only senior Mooi River educationist to leave this year. Neighbouring Weston Agriculture College’s principal Paul Tait retires at the end of the year.
