Protest action in Hattingspruit

Protest over unfair recruitment creates a stir in Hattingspruit.

Protest action filled the streets of Hattingspruit after members of the community took to the streets to protest about the alleged unfair recruitment within Shanduka Coal Mine.

This was after alleged promises to hire equally within the nine surrounding areas were breached. Community members complain that they are being overlooked and unfairly treated.

There are also accusations that some of the members were hired as a result of bribery. The aggrieved community members contacted the Miss S Zwane, who is believed to be the community liaison between the community and the mine. To this she allegedly replied that “they are uneducated and they are jealous of others .“ She also allegedly added that she doesn’t care all that matters  is that she gets a salary at the end of the month.” Full details will follow soon
