Meet the new face at Dundee Hospital
Sbonelo Dube, aims to take the world of healthcare by storm in his new post as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Dundee.

Armed with an ear to hear grievances and solutions in mind, the Dundee Provincial Hospital’s new Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sbonelo Dube, aims to take the world of healthcare by storm. Sbonelo aims to bring ‘quick, efficient solutions to all grievances and uphold the excellent service delivery rendered at the hospital’. Sbonelo is no stranger to the world of public relations or healthcare, as he previously completed an internship in public relations at the Amajuba District Hospital.
“The hospital is familiar grounds!” he added with a broad smile.
When asked what will his contribution to the hospital will be, Sbonelo explained how he ‘aims to meet the grievances of the public and solve them timeously and accurately’. He said, “I aim to maintain National Health Insurance (NHI) standards, and ensure that Dundee Hospital, which has been has so well piloted to date, will keep up with the standards set down by Minister of Executive Council (MEC) for Health, Sibongiseni Maxwell Dlomo.”
Sbonelo’s face lit up when he spoke about how excited he is to be able to work with members of management such as Mr Khan.
Sbonelo employs an open approach to his duties as a PRO. This approach includes the placing of suggestion boxes in wards. This will allow patients and members of the community to forward their complaints and comments directly to him. “The boxes will be checked weekly, and complaints will be dealt with promptly,” he said.
He will also communicate with the hospital at large through newsletters, e-mails and the internet. Ward visits are also high on his list of priorities, and he will be on the ground to assist whenever needed. While the hospital staff celebrates the arrival of Sbonelo, they also bid a fond farewell to Mr S Khan, who will be retiring after 33 years of dedicated service to the Dundee Provincial Hospital. Mr Khan is set to depart from duty on August 29.
