Vryheid High School: Victories on the sportsfield

IT WAS a busy weekend for sport, as tennis, soccer and cricket games were played.

The tennis team is doing very well so far, having played against Ladysmith High School and beating them 9 – 6. Well done, we are proud of you!

The first team cricket boys travelled down to Pongola on Friday, August 15. They played only two and half matches before the weather interfered.

Their first match was against Landbou. They batted first and scored 130/7 in 10 overs.

Landbou were bowled out for 20 in 7,4 overs.

In the second match against Dundee they batted first and scored 108.

Dundee ended the game on 49/4. Good cricket was played.

Thank you to all the boys who represented VHS and made us proud both with their cricket skills and exemplary behaviour.

Soccer: Utrecht Tournament: VHS vs Amajuba 0-0 (Draw); VHS vs Dundee 1-0 (Won) and VHS vs Ladysmith 1-1 (Draw).

Unfortunately they did not qualify for the semis, due to goal difference rule. They got eight points and therefore finished fifth in their group.
