Ladies from Newcastle, Dundee and Ladysmith attended the Northern Natal trials at Settlers Park on Saturday in the hopes of qualifying for the Under 19 Inland cricket team. The first round trials focused on assessing the ladies’ batting and bowling skills.
KZN Inland coach Mbasa Gqadushe was impressed with the girls’ performances. “The trials went very well and lots of the ladies who came were new to the system, but have lots of talent,” he said.
There is going to be a final under 19 trial which will combine the Pietermaritzburg ladies and the Northern Natal ladies, and the final team will be confirmed in October after the trials have been completed.
This is all in preparation for the Cricket South Africa Annual Tournament for the under 19 team, which will be held in Nelspruit in December.
