Breaking the ice for ALS

Leading by example, staff members lined up last Monday to endure the bitterly cold challenge.

Raising awareness for ALS (aymothrophic lateral sclerosis), New Active Health and Fitness has challenged members to the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Leading by example, staff members lined up last Monday to endure the bitterly cold challenge.

Tracy Harkness, co-owner of the gym, said she had heard about the Ice Bucket Challenge while watching CNN.

“The challenge appealed to me and I thought it was interesting,” she said.

Nathi Ngcobo, a staff member, thought it was a good idea to become involved with projects such as the Ice Bucket Challenge.

“We are the community and have a lot of community members coming to the gym, so it is very important to give back to the public and create awareness,” he said.

The Ice Bucket Challenge will be ongoing at the gym for the duration of September.
