Vryheid High School – Cricket team looking sharp

THE Grade 12 learners have officially started with their Trial Examinations, so we trust they are dedicating themselves fully to their academic preparation.

On Wednesday, September 8, both our cricket and soccer teams participated in matches. It seems the girls’ soccer team is doing very well this season. Well played, girls.

Results: VHS vs Inkamana: Girls 1 – 0; Boys second team 0 – 2 and Boys first team 1 – 4.

Cricket: VHS chose to bat first. They scored 216 for seven in their 20 overs. M Machado scored 45 and M Dedekind 48. Pongola then batted and scored 28 all out. M Machado took five ickets, K Taylor four wickets and PJ le Roux one wicket.

VHS won the game by 188 runs. The u/15 team played against Landbou, who elected to bat first. The VHS team bowled them out for 27 runs. They beat Landbou’s first team by 10 wickets! Impressive!

Tennis: Baie geluk aan die VHS-span wat St Dominics Vrydag, 5 September, 12 : 4 gewen het. Dit wil voorkom dat hierdie VHS tennis span die span is om te wen. Mooi gespeel. Baie geluk!

On Saturday, September 6, our VHS first cricket team traveled to Ferrum, who chose to bat first. They scored 126 all out. Good bowling from PJ le Roux, M Machado and B Gryffenberg, who each took two wickets. VHS reached the total in 15 overs, with M Dedekind and M Machado each scoring 30. VHS won the game by five wickets. The u/15 boys’ team also played against Ferrum. They were sent in to bat first and made a total of 149 runs. Ferrum reached their total with four wickets to spare, thereby winning the match.
