Work comes to a standstill at Dannhauser Hospital

Protesters demanded that workers leave the area or they would be assaulted.

Work has come to a complete standstill at the yet-to-be opened Dannhauser Hospital following protest marches today.

Marchers arrived at the hospital armed with sticks, knobkierries and even sharp weapons and demanded that workers on site leave the premises.

A foreman’s car was also surrounded and he was ordered to leave the area.

Marchers have promised to continue their protests until MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo addresses them personally.

Security guards, who were locked in one of the offices, had to be freed by police, as they feared for their safety.
