The Fort Amiel Museum will be hosting an Afrikaans Cultural evening on October 10 at the museum.

The theme will be the visits of Paul Kruger, the then State President of the Transvaal Republic to Newcastle. The role he played in 1881 during the negotiations of the peace treaty after the Battle of Majuba, in 1891 during a state visit to open the railway line, and in 1900 during the occupation of Newcastle by the Boers during the second Anglo-Boer War will also be highlighted.

The Museum will be open from 5pm to support the stall holders and the evening will start at 6.30pm to 8.30pm where there will be presentations on historical topics.

The costs will be R20 for adults and children between seven and 18, R10. Dinner will be included in the entrance fee which will be pap, worse, meat salads and juice.
