What better way to celebrate summer than to see and smell some of its natural offerings?
Shepstone Place Home for the Aged is proud to host their third Garden and Flower Show, which will take place on October 4 and 5 at the home.

The staff and residents are hard at work preparing for this floral feast and gardens are being tidied while residents prepare their arrangements. Chairlady Sheryl Lane said that Garden and Flower Show is not only a fundraiser for the old aged home but also allows the community a chance to visit the Home and mingle with the residents and staff.

This year about 36 arrangements will be made and displayed through the home and visitors can take a tour of the home, while appreciating the floral arrangements.”The floral arrangements are not done by professionals,” said Mrs Lane.”People who volunteer to make the arrangements do so in memory of someone they lost, to reflect a Bible verse or just for fun,” said Administrator Debbie Potgieter.

Without revealing too much, Mrs Lane says that the Garden and Flower Show will be “different” and “unusual” this year. What she did disclose was that clothing store Milady’s will be hosting a fashion show on Saturday where there will be great prizes to be won. A flea market for residents only will be a new feature this year.
