Top quality at Dundee District Farmers’ Union Quality Slaughter Stock Show

Die Dundee & Distrik Boere Unie se Kwaliteit Slagveeskou en Veiling, wat op Donderdag, September 25 gehou is, was uiters suksesvol. Boere van die distrik het vee van uitstaande gehalte ingeskryf en vertoon. Daar was altesaam 18 vertoners in die skouafdeling wat onder andere insluit tien in die beesafdeling en nege in die skaapafdeling. Daar was 96 beeste en 99 skape ingeskryf vir die skou.
The Supreme Champion of the Cattle Section was owned by Jan Labuschagne, exhibited by Cara Bruyns, and bought by SMIA Livestock Traders (Shiraz Amod) of Newcastle for R10 700 (R19,45/kg). The Reserve Champion belonged to Arthur Hellberg of Hattingspruit, and was also bought by SMIA Livestock Traders (Shiraz Amod). K M de Jager & Seuns het die prys gewen vir die Kampioen Kraal van vier slagbeeste.
Die beste slagkoei het aan Ludi Wichmann van Hattingspruit behoort.
In the sheep section Rudolf Gevers took the honours for the Champion Lamb on Show. This was bought by the GMA Peer Family Trust for R1 350 (R25,47/kg). Rudolf Gevers also exhibited the Reserve Champion, which was also bought by the GMA Peer Family Trust.
Die Kampioen Kraal van vyf slagskape is deur Lucas Meintjes & Seun van Hattingspruit gewen.
A special part of the annual show is the Children’s Classes. There were ten entries in these sections. Cara Bruyns won the Children’s Class: Steer or Heifer. Aiden Carter won the Champion Lamb, and Fritz Botes (Jnr) the Champion Pen of five lambs, any breed.
Die boerevereniging wat die meeste punte verower het was Hattingspruit – baie geluk. Hulle het die Kirton Afslaers wisseltrofee gewen. In die tweede plek was Wasbank, en derde was Helpmekaar.
A sincere thank-you to the staff of BKB Louwid for their excellent service to the farmers and for conducting the sale.
Thank you too to the judges – Erhard Hellberg judged the Cattle Section and Mr Richard Haupt the Sheep section. They both commented on the very high quality of livestock entered in the show.
