PUBLIC Speaking competition: On Thursday, September 25, we held our annual Public Speaking competition.

A number of brave Grade 7 learners presented talks on the topic, “Money – a necessary evil”. Their presentations were of an exceptionally high standard, and the adjudicators had a tough task of selecting the winner!

The thought provoking topic of rhino poaching was the unprepared oral.

The 2014 winner of the James Schnetler trophy is Mpilo Ngwenya, with Smilo Mtshali and Asande Zulu coming second and third respectively. Our sincere appreciation to the adjudicators, Mrs Jill Shand and Mrs Isabel Botha, for giving up their time to join us for this occasion.

Heritage Day: On Friday, NRS celebrated Heritage Day by having a braai for the older children, while the Foundation Phase had a picnic. Seeing that they could wear civvies, some children came to school in traditional Zulu wear, showing off their colourful beadwork.

Dates to remember:

October 3: School closes at 9:30am

October 13: School reopens
