A golden opportunity for Thami

His singing talent, which he developed from grade eight and honed in the church choir, was scooped up by a Durban producer, resulting in his debut CD.

21-year-old Thami Mvelase’s voice can only be described as moving. Singing his favourite genre, gospel, the young man hits all the right high and low notes.
His singing talent, which he developed from grade eight and honed in the church choir, was scooped up by a Durban producer, resulting in his debut CD.
The CD is entitled Nxa Efika Ujesu (When Jesus Comes) and features 12 songs, which is a mix of classic worship songs that locals are familiar with as well as his own compilations.
Thami completed his matric at Celukuphiwa Combined School and while there formed a group with fellow learners, which was called White Angels. He went on to study B.Ed through Unisa and this was where he started exploring his singing. He met and wooed producer Lindani Gumede who assisted with compiling the CD. “This CD will be enjoyed by everyone who is touched by gospel music,” he said.
