MUNICIPAL officials are faced with yet another crisis as Mondlo residents take a stand against what they call “the neglected state” of their town.
Mondlo residents said that they had had enough of poor service delivery and marched down to the Municipal Offices in Block A at Emondlo to hand over a list of their grievances on Sunday, October 5.
Among the issues the community members needed to be addressed were complaints about tender systems that are not transparent, a register concerning the rise of unemployment in AbaQulusi, nepotism regarding the handing out of municipal bursaries, poor service delivery and their disagreements with water meter readings that have been imposed by the municipality.
A certain Mr Mthembu who was sent by KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nomsa Dube, addressed the residents, signed the memorandum and assured them that he would let the MEC know about all their complaints.
The mayor Cllr P Khaba was also present and although she did not leave the car she was in, she did however sign the memorandum.
The people of Mondlo say that they are now waiting to see if there will be any changes regarding the matters they asked to be addressed and whether they will get answers.
