Vehicles come to dead stop in Cemetery Road accident

A Hyundai and a taxi  travelling towards town collided in Cemetery Road this evening.

It is alleged that one of the vehicles tried to overtake the other in the path of oncoming traffic. The overtaking vehicle, realising it wasn’t going to make it, quickly went back into its lane. This caused a collision.

One of the occupants of the Hyundai was trapped in the wreckage and the jaws of life had to be used to free him.

Sharaj, ER24, EMRS, Public Safety and SAPS responded to the scene.

Three people were injured and taken to hospital.

Public Safety had to redirect traffic, as both lanes were closed while paramedics and officials worked on the scene.
