Accident on Pieters road leaves toddler dead

A baby was killed and 9 other people suffered major and minor injuries after a van and a car collided on the Pieters/Colenso road this evening (Saturday).

The van was travelling from Colenso and the car was coming from Ezakheni, and the two crashed into each other at the intersection.

A 17-month-old baby was declared dead at St Chad’s Clinic. The other victims were transported to hospital by Sharaj Ambulance Services and EMRS.

Public Safety officers and police responded to the scene.

This is the second major accident on the Pieters road within the past week. Just last weekend, tragedy struck when a shooting led to an accident that resulted in injuries and loss of life.
