THREE games were fixtured for last weekend, October 11 and 12.
Unfortunately, the 20/20 matches between Dumbe and Wicket Wasps, as well as Gladiators and Scorpions were cancelled due to wet fields in eDumbe and Cecil Emmett on Saturday.
On Sunday, however, Wicket Wasps played Dumbe in eDumbe in a Kennedy Cup league match.
Dumbe won the toss and elected to bowl first. On a good batting pitch, Wicket Wasps set a grand total of 294/5 in their allotted 40 overs with all batsmen cashing in! Top run scorers for them were Ryan Nel (60) and Rynhardt Labuschagne (54 not out). The best bowling figures for Dumbe came from Rupert Beneke (7-0-61-2) and Zane Holliday (5-0-42-1).
Dumbe, under threat of incoming bad weather, started well and stayed on track chasing the target. A fantastic fourth wicket partnership of 120 runs between Charle Beneke (71) and Leon Solms (57) nearly got them home, but it wasn’t to be.
Dumbe were bowled out for 228 in the 35th over. Good bowling from Norman Phillips (8-0-49-3) and Andrew Brooks (6-2-18-2) secured a 66 run win for the Wicket Wasps.
