Is 5 years what a life is now worth? Oscar may just spend only 10 months in prison, is that justice enough?
Paralympian Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of culpable homicide for killing his girlfriend ruled Judge Thokozile Masipa .
On September 12, Masipa found Pistorius guilty of Steenkamp’s culpable homicide, but not guilty of her murder.
For discharging a firearm at Tasha’s restaurant in January 2013, he was sentenced to three years in jail, suspended for five years.
The sentences would run concurrently, Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled. Pistorius made his way down to the holding cells below the High Court in Pretoria yesterday.
He was then transported to the Kgosi Mampuru Prison in an SA Police Service Nyala armoured vehicle.
When Pistorius arrived at the prison he was taken into the reception area where his fingerprints were taken and he was searched.
His details were then entered into a computer system and a prison number was issued.
A nurse compiled a medical file, he then had to remove his suit and tie as the receptionist issued him prison clothing.
Pistorius was then placed alone in his cell in the hospital wing of the Kgosi Mampuru Prison
