POLICE are still on the hunt for suspects who opened fire on the Vryheid Taxi Owners Association Chairman on Saturday, October 25 evening.
According to a report, the Chairman, Mr Mfaniseni Zulu was leaving his business, Monate Tavern in the Old Location in Bhekuzulu when he was shot at several times by unknown suspects who were in a white Toyota Corolla.
It is alleged that one of the suspects fired multiple shots at Zulu as the vehicle sped down Bhengu Street.
Zulu is said to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds, the most serious being two on both thighs and two on the stomach.
A young man, who was standing at the entrance of the tavern at the time was hit by a stray bullet and sustained serious groin injury.
Both victims were transported to Vryheid Hospital.
Mr Zulu’s car was also badly damaged during the course of the incident with three gunshot holes on the windscreen and another on the bonnet.
The motive behind this attack is still unknown.
An attempted murder case has been opened and investigations are underway.
