The Umzinyathi District Municipality responded to the water bill woes that an aggrieved resident in Glencoe is facing after a burst pipe resulted in an alleged mounting water bill.
Communications Officer Nomonde Nzimakwe responded: “In response to the enquiry regarding a leak at 12 Acacia Road in Glencoe, we still maintain that the leak did not affect the customer’s water account.
The monthly consumption trend was checked for the past four years, and there should be a huge change in the monthly consumption, which is not the case for this account.
“We will however review the account after three months of actual consumption in order to establish the new trend after the leak has been fixed.”
She concluded by stating that, “The Umzinyathi District Municipality is committed to providing high quality service to its residents.”
She has to date not confirmed whether there will be any form of reimbursement.
