Python recovered after collision

The python was taken to the SPCA before being handed over to an authorised official

A slippery surprise was waiting for emergency personnel who responded to an accident scene on the N3 northbound near Ultra City on Saturday, October 25. A python was found in a box inside the bakkie that overturned at about 10am. According to emergency services, the driver lost control of the bakkie and overturned.

Two people were treated for minor injuries and the Estcourt and District SPCA and fire department were summoned to assist with the python. The python was taken to the SPCA before being handed over to an authorised official. The owner, once discharged from hospital, is expected to retrieve the reptile but only if a valid permit is produced.
