AFTER some really cool days, Tuesday was a lovely sunny day and the perfect weather for a tennis tournament.
As we were hosting this tournament, we arrived at the Vryheid Lawn Tennis Club a little earlier, to prepare everything for the day of tennis ahead. A special word of thanks goes to the Tennis Club for the use of their facilities and tennis courts.
The tournament started with the singles, followed by the doubles and came to a close with the mixed tennis matches. The players had a lot of fun and experienced some challenging moments on the court. The Wittenberg girls had to go the extra mile because unfortunately one of their players fell and broke her arm. The remaining girls had to play an extra game or two so that we could complete the tournament.
Congratulations to the following winners: The Wittenberg boys and Lüneburg girls won the trophy for the best boys’ and girls’ teams. Congratulations to Lüneburg who were the overall winners. Thank you to all the parents and friends who attended this tournament.
Grade 7 Farewell: The Grade 7 Farewell took place on Thursday evening and the Grade 6 class, together with the class teacher, Mrs van Deventer, went to great lengths to make this evening a special and memorable one for the Grade 7s.
The theme this year was China and the children and teachers got to enjoy their Chinese dinner in a restaurant-like atmosphere, sitting on pillows and eating with chopsticks. Thank you to the Grade 6 class and Mrs van Deventer for all your hard work. We would like to wish the Grade 7 class the best of luck for their upcoming exams as well as the future.
JD is king of the race track: On Saturday, November 1, JD van der Colff took part in the Ninja Midgets National Championships. JD certainly has racing in his blood and is following in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps, as he came first in the race and took home the National Championship trophy! Fantastic JD, we are proud of you!
