140 workers evacuated from Utrecht factory
Factory workers started collapsing and experiencing bouts of hysteria.

Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have evacuated at least 140 workers following a suspected chemical inhalation at a factory in the Utrecht area, in northern KZN.
The factory workers started collapsing and experiencing bouts of hysteria, just after 8am. It is believed that this was due to inhalation of chemical substances used for cleaning and maintenance.
The workers were evacuated from the building and assessed by paramedics outside. A large contingent of EMS Paramedics arrived aboard two patient transport busses, three ambulances and two response vehicles to see to the patients.
After treating the patients on scene at the factory, the paramedics transported them to the nearby Niemeyer Hospital. Several trips had to be made to deliver all the patients to hospital.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
