Forensic probe to be tabled Friday

An investigation into suspected fraud and malpractice in the Endumeni Municipality has been completed by the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

The investigation was requested by concerned residents of Sibongile and others last year. Around the same time there were a number of protest marches and meetings during which the community demanded that suspended Municipal Manager Thabani Biyela be reinstated.

Last week an official from COGTA presented a three-hour report during a council meeting, which was closed to the public and the media.

According to sources, ‘there will be a number of surprises, including the suspension of certain managers’.
Council is to table the report during a special Council on Friday at 10am.
