K9 Unit needs dogs urgently

The dogs must be under 3 years old and must be thoroughbreds

The Ladysmith K9 Unit is appealing to the community for dogs. This is a matter of urgency, as the unit only has 2 patrol dogs and two explosives dogs at this time, leaving eight officers without a ‘partner’.

The breeds the unit ideally require are Rottweilers and German Shepherds. The dogs must be under 3 years old and must be thoroughbreds.

They will be put through a small training programme and should they not pass, they will be returned to their owners.

To those people out there who own these breed of dogs, you are urged to donate one to the Ladysmith K9 Unit. In doing so, you will be helping to combat crime in and around town. Police have recently noted an increase in house break-ins in town and you will be going a long way towards stamping out this kind of opportunistic crime.
