Woman raped and robbed near Peacevale

Rapist preys on woman's desperation.

A 44-year-old from Sithembile in Glencoe was raped after being lured into a bush between Forestdale and Peacevale under the pretext of being offered a job.

The woman was informed about the job offer by an unknown man using a false name. The man informed the victim that the person looking to employ her was his employer’s neighbour.

Arrangements were made for the meeting and the unsuspecting, yet hopeful, victim met the man and accompanied him to Peacevale. While walking through the bushes, the man grabbed the victim by the throat and instructed her to undress.

The women screamed frantically, but sadly her cries went unheard and despite her efforts she was raped.

The suspect fled soon after but not before he robbed the victim of a small amount of money.
