Child killed while playing with gun

A 3-year-old toddler was shot dead yesterday (Sunday, November 16) while playing with his father’s firearm at their Ladysmith home. The family lives in Limit Hill.

According to police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig, the little boy somehow managed to get hold of his father’s firearm and shot himself.

The toddler was in a bedroom at the time, while his mother was busy in the kitchen. The shooting took place shortly before 12pm.When shocked police officers arrived at the scene, they found the boy. He had been shot through the mouth.

An inquest will be held to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
