Motorists who were faced with the challenge of travelling all over town due to the shortage of unleaded petrol will be delighted to know the issue has been sorted out.
The Fuel Retailers Association confirmed there were shortages of unleaded petrol in some parts of KZN, mainly Durban due to some refineries having run dry last week.
The association said that there had been an unplanned refinery shutdown at Shell and BP South African Petroleum Refineries (Sapref) but the situation was sorted out by Thursday last week.
The association’s Reggie Sibiya said that the supplier to Caltex service stations was still experiencing shortages but added that this too would be sorted out.
“We are busy putting pressure on the Department of Energy to put pressure on Chevron and BP to make sure they resolve this issue as soon as possible,” he said.
