On the couch with Francois Zietsman

FRANCOIS Zietsman, of Masterchef South Africa fame, visited Klets Cafè on November 7.

The talented young musician and chef, who was born in Vryheid in 1992, but is currently residing in Stellenbosch, dropped by to demonstrate his cooking skills for an enthusiastic crowd in an exceptionally classy setting.

We caught up with Mr Zietsman and asked him a few questions in an effort to get a bit of insight into the young man who has not forgotten his roots.

Favourite ingredient: Fillet or lamb and fennel spice.

Favourite guitarist: Dan Patlansky.

Favourite colour: Blue.

Favourite band: Kings of Leon or F*kofpolisiekar.

Favourite dessert: Churros (Spanish doughnut).

Birthday: June 26, 1992.

What’s playing in your car at the moment? Kings of Leon.

Relationship status: In a relationship.

Favourite moment on Masterchef: Compliments and good comments from the judges.

What inspires you? “I love working with people.”

Any advice to aspiring young chefs or musicians out there? “Live your passion.”

 ‘Versatile Sauce’ recipe:

• Fresh Coriander
• Whole garlic
• Fresh ginger
• Wholegrain mustard
• Soya Sauce
• Juice of one lemon
• Olive oil
• Salt and pepper

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
