According to reports, loadshedding kicked into gear on Friday last week, affecting certain parts of Vryheid and surrounding areas for approximately two hours at a time.
Vryheid, Lakeside, eMondlo, Pioneer Park and Lakeside were without power at certain times over the weekend, leaving residents somewhat irritated due to the lack of notification or even a basic schedule to work around.
According to back up staff at the municipality on Sunday, they were just as much in the dark as we were about the whole matter and were simply told that the power would be going off at certain times throughout the weekend.
At the time of going to press, there was no record of Vryheid being on Eskom’s loadshedding schedule, nor was there any response from AbaQulusi Municipality after we had requested that they shed some light on the subject.
