26 injured in bus collision on the N3 near Estcourt

Approximately 26 people have been injured yesterday evening after a bus overturned and collided with multiple light motor vehicles

In the centre median of the N3 highway near Estcourt, was a bus lying on its side with several vehicles strewn across both lanes. That was the sight that welcomed ER24 paramedics and emergency services as they arrived on scene yesterday.

Approximately 26 people have been injured yesterday evening after a bus overturned and collided with multiple light motor vehicles. The injuries sustained were said to be that of minor and moderate injuries.

“All of the patients were found walking around on scene or sitting in their vehicles. Paramedics faced many challenges during their treatment of the patients such as keeping patients dry and warm due to working through heavy hail and rain.

Once all the patients were treated, paramedics transported them to Estcourt Hospital for further observations. It is believed that the heavy downpour of rain and hail might have been a contributing factor of the collision,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
