VRYHEID detectives successfully investigated the case of a brutal killing that took place at a shebeen Lakeside in April leading to the arrest of Bongani Dlamini.
Dlamini fled to Newcastle in April last year after having stabbed his friend Zakhele Khumalo, 46 wounds all over the body.
It is said that the two had gone out on the night of April 13 for drinks. An argument broke out when Dlamini accused Zakhele Khumalo of being a police informer and went on to produce a weapon and stab his friend 46 times.
The wounds are said to have been very severe and Khumalo died on the scene.
Dlamini then fled to Osizweni in Newcastle and was in hiding until he was caught and arrested on July 20.
On November 25, the Madadeni Court found him guilty of murder and he was given a life sentence.
