Driver critically injured as trucks collide on N3

Paramedics treated him in the truck, before removing him and stabilising him further

Early this morning (January 5), just after midnight, KZN Emergency Medical Services paramedics responded to a collision between two trucks.

The incident took place on the Free State bound carriageway of the N3, before the Tugela Toll Plaza. The driver of one of the trucks was critically injured.

Paramedics treated him in the truck, before being removed and stabilised further. He was then transported to a Ladysmith hospital for continued care.

The driver of the other truck was not injured and did not wish to go to hospital.

The slow lane was affected and was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by police.
