Unlicensed firearm recovered at Dannhauser taxi rank

One suspect was arrested for possession of a firearm without a license and ammunition at the Dannhauser Taxi Rank.

Police Constable, B.D. Mdlalose, received information about a suspect carrying a firearm in the taxi rank. When he rushed to the scene he found the suspect with a 9mm pistol, one magazine and 3 live rounds of ammunition. The firearm’s serial number was erased. The suspect was then arrested.
The firearm was seized and will be taken to ballistics for testing.
“We would like to thank the community for reporting things like this, because it saved many people’s lives. Unlicensed and illegal firearms are used to commit crime and kill people,” said Constable Nyembe.
