Estcourt farm murderers flee towards Ladysmith

The seriously injured farmer managed to call his wife, who was on holiday at the coast

The brutal killing of Estcourt farmer Malcolm ‘Stick’ Green has sent shock waves throughout the farming community. The killers of the 69-year-old farmer fled in his bakkie, which was found abandoned near Ladysmith.

In the early hours of yesterday (Monday) morning, Mr Green was confronted by at least four men in his farmhouse. He was shot in the stomach. The men stole electronic goods before fleeing in Mr Green’s bakkie.

The seriously injured farmer managed to call his wife, who was on holiday at the coast. She then raised the alarm. He died at the scene, despite paramedics’ best efforts to save him.

Police managed to track the stolen vehicle to Ezakheni, near Ladysmith, shortly after 9am on Monday. It was abandoned.

No arrests have yet been made.
