High number of matriculants get exemptions

All in all, LHS has much to be proud of, with a whopping 83.43 per cent Bachelor Pass rate

Of the 168 pupils from Ladysmith High School (LHS) who wrote their matric exams, a staggering 136 received matric exemptions (or as it is known these days, a Bachelors Pass). 27 achieved Diploma Passes.

All in all, LHS has much to be proud of, with a whopping 83.43 per cent Bachelor Pass rate. The school had an overall pass rate of 97.02, with four pupils not making the grade. All four, however, have qualified to do supplementary exams in February to achieve their matric pass. Of those who did not pass, most failed a language.

School principal Mr Christo Pieterse expressed his delight at the results. “136 of our pupils can get into university out of the 168 who wrote the exams. That is an outstanding achievement!” he said.

The school’s top achiever in the NCS examinations 2014 was Vuyo Hlongwane with 7 A’s.
