Another successful KZN Champs
Time trials were held on the Besters / Braamhoek road on Saturday, followed by the children's races later that day

The Siegetown Wheelers Cycling Club again played host to the KZN Cycling Championships, such was the success of last year’s event.
The time trials were held on the Besters / Braamhoek road on Saturday, followed by the children’s races later that day.
The following day, male and female riders from across KZN competed in various age categories for medals over distances ranging from 114km to 60km. A highlight of Sunday’s racing was the attendance of the ABANTU pro teams, whose members took line honours in their respective age group categories.
KZN Cycling chairman Greg Stedman congratulated the club on the superb organisation and thanked both his officials and the club members of Siegetown Wheelers for their service to cycling.
The club wishes to sincerely thank all traffic and safety personnel for their dedication, and all the volunteers for their support. Riders from Siegetown who competed in the KZN Champs gained the following positions:
Time trials on Saturday, January 17:
Hesmarie Bester – silver (veteran women 30-34), Amanda Blignaut – gold (veteran women 35-39), Olga Lourens – silver (veteran women 40-44), Petrus Lourens – fifth (U/14 boys), Herman Lourens – eighth (U/16 boys), Hannes Lourens – fourth (U/16 boys), Vyver de Klerk -gold (elite men), Morne Moore – bronze (veteran men 35-39).
Road race on Sunday, January 18:
Hannes Lourens – bronze (U/16 boys), Wessel Swanepoel – eighth (junior men), Amanda Blignaut – gold (veteran ladies 35-39).
