Celebrating its 30th year of existence, the challenge will have massive prizes up for grabs for this year’s winners.
With a record number of entrants already, the total prize money has been set at a staggering R20 000, with both the first placed male and female swimmers in the 1000m race taking home R5 000 each.
All swimmers will also receive a memorial medal commemorating this year’s auspicious big three-O.
As the Midmar Mile dawns in the near future, many swimmers will regard the Chelmsford Challenge as the perfect measure before the huge race in Pietermaritzburg.
The year’s main co-sponsors are Newcastle Municipality, KFC Newcastle, Da-Xa Sand, Vlam Panel Beaters and many others.
Champ Marketing Managing Director, Johan Pieters invited the community to get out their swimsuits, braai stands and camping chairs before making their way down to the dam for a world of fun.
The Challenge date has been set for January 31 and promises to be a year to remember.
